ITT Technical Institute - Kansas City, MO CampusI must say that I am highly disappointed and horrified on finding so many complaints about ITT Technical Institute.
Make no mistake about it, they are not about fulfilling, motivating, and inspiring student's dreams" but they are fulfilling ITT stockholder's gains. Can you imagine spend 40 K on a 2 year school?
They charge 600 dollars for a kit by which they purchase for 150.00. The worse of all is that many students end up not getting a job.
If you do not believe this , then, wonder why they keep calling students every single day, trying to find their whereabouts. They can tell that it is their job, I say they are full of it. They are trying to maintain the drops. If a specific program loses too many students, then, they will find what is happening and the instructor is to blame. They will hire just about anyone that have a bachelors degree and stay in the classroom for them.
The person that really makes the money in any said campus is the director. The director receives a salary , plus profits. Therefore, he is also number driven. If students drops left and right, he or she will loose money.
They are number driven. The employees are underpaid and overstressed. The sad of it is that ITT technical institute only pays partime staff a lousy 1500.00 for 3 months per class. If you are a student, ask a partime instructor. Also ask why so many changes on instructors. Do you really believe that all the instructors that left or got into a situation that they make you leave left because of what?
Another negative aspect is that if you do not play their game, they will find something to get rid off the instructor. They do not care if you have a family, financial responsibilities, etc.
Many students or prospective students are not aware is that ITT Technical Institute is not a regionally accredited institution. If you don't believe this, go do your homework. This is why it is a terminal degree and many schools will not accept your credits from courses taken at ITT.
Why do you think that the recruiter will tell everything to convince you to sign the dotted line.
Another negative aspect of ITT Technical Institute in Kansas City, MO, is that student drop like flies from all offered programs.
Check on how many starts and then check how many end the quarter. More than half leave because they are not satisfied with their initial investment. Ask the dean or the Director, why so many students drop from school.
I do not blame the students at all. Some students somehow are admitted but cannot either read or write, much less add or subtract, but does ITT cares? NO WAY.
in other words, if I where you, I would stay away from any ITT Technical Institute campus. They have the same operation all they care is your money, period!

Stupid of those students that are accepted and find out that they got ripped off! You better off attending Johnson Community College. At least you will pay a quarter of what you are paying or will pay after you graduate from a worthless school. C'mom students! start dropping and the campus will shut down! you can do it! At least if you drop now, you will save tons of money and plus the poor program chair and associate dean wont be calling you left and right! check on this site, there are about 1200 inquires about ITT in Kansas City. |
2. Written by Alan, on 21-10-2009 00:18 You know what? colleges does not control the job markets! You are full of it by saying that students evaluates students on their quarter end course survey! Did you know that there are instructors that fake the results? You know how? well, it is simple: the instructor login into the gradebook, printout a list of all students name and their ID number. Some students still use the password as their birthdate. Yet, the instructor will log in on their behalf, and put everything the highest score. All this is done in the lab session. So, who is fooling who? The instructor will look good with the Dean, get a good report, a worthless BS award infront of his/her peers, and the "bonus" check! Wake up! Why ITT have a high professor turnover? they pay a lousy salary and then make a mile long list of requirements to inspire and fulfill the student's dreams! The fun part of it is that instructors that get good reviews get 100 dollars per class and depending on the quarter, 200 dollars per class. Therefore, it is a business to get an extra paycheck. The worse of all is that if the same instructor divides the amount he/she will get by the number of weeks and hours, it comes down to $3.47 after tax. ITT is a scam and you know that! They drop like flies...anyone that can sign their name is an ITT Tech student and this is the sole true and you know that! Hey! you don't believe this? do a google search on ITT technical Institute student complaints and see for yourself!
3. Written by Mark, on 13-10-2009 16:23 you know why the grammar and spelling is bad? because I took English classes at your campus and the instructor was a louzy instructor.. surfing the internet during class, taking too many breaks, dismissing class early, hum.. let's see if I am not forgetting something? Oh yeah! giving A's to everyone! that's the ticket!
4. Written by shocked atbout ITT Tech Kansas, on 12-10-2009 04:15 Why are you shocked? be honest once for a change! Tell everyone why does the employees keep calling over and over again students and begging them to attend school? Because if they dont, then, ITT must return the loan money and they do not like this. Community colleges and universities do not call everyday the students begging to come to class. You dont show, they will drop you! So, why does ITT call then? to inspire, motivate and to fulfill students dreams? My friend! what world do you live?
5. Written by Smiles, on 21-09-2009 19:28 I work at the ITT-Technical Institute in KC. Overall it truly is a good school. On reading this I was very shocked and offended. All I hear are complaints about the numbers, teachers and the education recieved. Let me ask you a question, have you ever attended a University or Community College? I have and trust me you learn more by doing hands on and are more useful to an employer. Have you ever calculated the drop rate at a Community College or traditional University? I've set in the same classes at the other Colleges and depending on the class half of it will be missing by the end of the semester. As for the teachers, I remember having to be in a setting where I had to listen to lectures all day long. Trust me I didn't learn much there! When I graduated from UCM, I got a website to reference for jobs. I didn't hear one mention of the Career Services Department at ITT. Keep in mind, College isn't for everyone and those who don't go will find any excuse in the book on why they didn't succeed in life!
6. Written by Mark, on 13-04-2009 02:09 Quite frankly, who cares about spelling and grammar when one talks about ITT Technical Institute, Kansas City Campus. It is the sole truth. Student drop like flies. They cannot keep a starting class for nothing. stay away from them at all cost! You are better off attending a community college!
7. Written by Unbelievable!, on 22-12-2008 12:37 I am reading these reviews because a friend is considering ITT and thinks it may be a wise choice. I am not so sure. But I have to comment that the writing here is atrocious! It's not only amazing, but truly sad how badly these items are written. Did anyone ever hear about spelling and grammar?
8. Written by Alan, on 13-12-2008 19:09 Wow! a lot of stuff about ITT Technical Institute in Kansas City. Seems like they are either doing good or doing bad with all these complaints. It is sad that people get trapped into this story and then still whine about it.
9. Written by Written by who cares right?, on 20-11-2008 10:48 I am glad that a real graduate came forward and provided with your side of the story. It seems that people who reads this blog may still have doubts about the subject. Perhaps, what you said applies to all campuses. Yet, there are more sad stories than good ones though. The numbers do not lie. ITT loses more people on their first and second quarter. At least, the students have time to get out before graduating with the equivalent of a house note bill. One last question: What program did you graduated?
